Mark B. Carbeau, M.B.A.

President and Chief Executive Officer and Member, Board of Directors, brings to HyperMed 25 years experience in building healthcare and medical technology companies. Most recently Mark was US President of Kinetics Concepts, Inc. (NYSE: KCI) where he led the Advanced Wound Care business. In other operating roles, he was Vice President Corporate Development of OraPharma, Inc. during its IPO in March of 2000 and prior to its sale to Johnson and Johnson in 2002, and held roles with Eli Lilly and Company in sales, marketing and engineering. Mark has been an engagement manager with The Boston Consulting Group, and a founding partner of a boutique consulting firm providing transaction support and interim management to private equity clients. He holds a BS degree in Industrial Engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from The Wharton School.

Rick Lifsitz, M.B.A.

Chief Operating Officer and Member, Board of Directors, is a serial entrepreneur, having been a co-founder/early team member of three successful start-up companies. He brings over two decades of senior operating, sales/business development, software development and company building experience to HyperMed. Rick has been a consultant with The Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a partner at a management turnaround firm and has marketing and business development experience at Procter and Gamble and Digital Equipment Corporation. Rick graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan & holds a MBA degree from The Harvard Business School.

Patrick T. McGloin, M.B.A.

VP of Marketing, brings over 14 years' experience in establishing product strategy for brand growth and new product lines in the healthcare and medical technology sectors. Most recently Director of Marketing at Hologic Inc. (NASDAQ: HOLX), Pat was responsible for the creation of the surgical strategy for the flagship $220M NovaSure franchise and oversaw the dramatic growth in revenue and market share both before and after Cytyc Corporation's merger with Hologic in October 2007. In other roles, he was Director of Marketing for Bard Endoscopic Technologies, a division of C.R. Bard, Inc., where he directed division strategy leading to subsequent global sales expansion and its sale to ConMed Corporation in 2004. Pat has also held marketing positions in wound management at Johnson and Johnson as well as Nucryst Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where he helped launch Acticoat, a unique burn and woundcare care technology. Pat holds a BS degree in Business Administration from Bryant University and an MBA from Boston University.  

Kevin T. Schomacker, Ph.D.

VP of Research, has over 20 years of experience in biological tissue spectroscopy and optics. Prior to joining HyperMed, he was Director of Research at MediSpectra, Inc. and prior to that was Associate Physicist at the Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine, Massachusetts General Hospital and Assistant Professor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. Kevin has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and has numerous patents in the area of minimally invasive medical diagnostic technology.  

Jim Sheppard

VP of Manufacturing, brings over 25 years of experience in manufacturing, operations planning, service and repair, quality systems and regulatory affairs. Most recently VP of Operations at Cambridge Heart. Jim has also held executive manufacturing positions with CR Bard, Summit Technology and Nitinol Medical. Jim holds a BS in Industrial Engineering.
